What an amazing visit I had with the Dress for Success Dallas Affiliates. If you’re not familiar with this nonprofit organization, Dress for Success provides professional attire for low-income women, to help support their job-search and interview process. But be warned, they are “so much more than simply a new outfit.”

Upon entering their Dallas office, their Mission Statement was apparent; “Empowering women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.” With the vision of “A world where all women are financially independent, treated with dignity and respect and are directly impacting their lives and those of their families.” Collaborating with 160 Dress for Success affiliates and operating in 30 countries, they serve more than one million women globally.

Women are referred to the organization though various outlets; homeless shelters, domestic abuse shelters, job training programs and word of mouth. Yes, when you walk in the offices you see business attire clothing, accessories from shoes to purses and even undergarments, but to get to that point, you’re given the tools to get you to that first interview. Resume building, mock interview training, cover letter instruction and so much more.

When the client interviews and gets that job, they are encouraged to return to Dress for Success for additional outfits and accessories to ease into the workforce. To further ensure that each woman is moving towards meaningful and sustainable careers, there are additional programs and meeting to help retain their jobs and developing their professional skills. With monthly Professional Woman’s Groups, women lock arms with other women and support and encourage each other.
As Dr. Lauren Freeman, Chairman of the Board, Dress for Success Dallas, so clearly states, “Real Women are vulnerable, Real Women are transparent, Real Women use their strengths to Empower others!” And, as a eight year employee of Relios and Carolyn Pollack Sterling Jewelry, I’ve never been so proud to be involved in partnering with this amazing organization. My hope is that these two day of sharing profits in each sale will not only impact the life of a woman in need, but also stir something inside of you. Celebrate being a woman!
